Real-time Charges and Saving on Expedites Explained
Real-time provides a great way to save on the time and costs of transcript expedites. Real-time enables you to download the reporter’s transcript before ending the deposition. So you can leave the deposition with a rough copy of the transcript and immediately begin preparing for the next deposition in the case.
When ordering real-time, you agree to paying a higher page rate and to purchasing the certified copy. The higher page rate helps compensate your reporter for the software. This rate may vary depending on the location of the deposition. You also agree to purchase the certified copy. If the real-time is streamed to remote attendees, a separate fee may be charged for use of that technology. These charges are fairly standard and straightforward. Still, it’s always a good idea to confirm costs prior to the deposition.
Oftentimes clients request a cleaned-up draft of the transcript in addition to real-time. Be aware that there is an added charge for a cleaned-up draft. If you need a rough draft and the real-time but do not require any cleanup, you can avoid this charge by downloading the real-time draft yourself before closing the real-time at the end of your deposition.
